The Waterloo Wellington Regional Cancer Program hopes to raise awareness of the importance of cancer prevention by opening thier doors to the Grand River Regional Cancer Care Centre.
Former Toronto Maple Leafs hockey player Darryl Sittler was one of the keynote speakers of the day. Sittler was born in Kitcher and grew up in St. Jacobs, Ontario. He started out playing minor hockey in Elmira in his early years. In 1989, Sittler was inducted in the Hockey Hall of Fame and two years later was hired as a special consulant to then president of the Maple Leafs, Cliff Fletcher. Sittler is now involved in spreading awareness about cancer prevention.
