Downtown Kitchener could see another new development.

Council approved a staff recommendation that an existing, city-owned property be declared surplus and offered up for sale.

The city is asking for development proposals for the piece of land on King Street.

It’s currently a municipal parking lot across the street from Dallas Nightclub, between Francis Street and Water Street.

Parking for the downtown area is still needed, and any new development will have to make parking spaces available for public use after hours.

The city will create up to 49 hourly parking spaces in the area to replace the ones lost when the lot is redeveloped.
