A chiropractor has been charged with voyeurism after a hidden camera was allegedly discovered inside the washroom of his New Hamburg practice.

Waterloo Regional Police say the camera was discovered in the ceiling of the washroom last week by another employee at the office, Affinity Health Clinic on Waterloo Street.

Multiple pieces of electronic equipment were seized from the building thanks to a search warrant that brought police into Affinity’s office and treatment rooms.

“We’re looking at items like computers, cellphones, a type of recording device similar to a camera,” says police spokesperson Olaf Heinzel.

Police say there could be “close to two dozen” people who were recorded at the clinic without their knowledge.

“We’re in the process of contacting them,” says Heinzel.

Jason Hurd, a 41-year-old Waterloo resident, was arrested Wednesday morning following an interview with detectives.

He faces three charges of voyeurism, although police say further charges are possible, and is scheduled to appear in court in July.

A spokesperson for Affinity Health Clinic says the facility has ended its relationship with Hurd due to this incident.
