Ice rinks, pools and a walking track will all feature in a proposed new sports and recreation complex in Cambridge.

The city plans to partner with Conestoga College to build the $53-million, 150,000-square-foot facility on land currently owned by the school.

City officials say planning for the complex remains in its early stages, and public engagement will be sought as things move ahead.

According to a report prepared for councillors, arguments in the location’s favour include the property’s proximity to Highway 401 and its falling within a 15-minute drive for most Cambridge residents.
