As the week came to a close, Waterloo Regional Police said they still had no idea why Michael Gibbon was killed, or who was behind it.
“We’re doing a thorough investigation to get to the bottom of it,” Staff Sgt. Mike Haffner said Friday in an interview.
“(We are) not eliminating or discounting any possibilities.”
It was Monday morning when Gibbon, 60, was found injured on the lawn of a home on Margaret Avenue in Kitchener.
People at the home say he had an arrow sticking out of his chest, and he was pronounced dead later that morning.
Wednesday, police released a composite image showing a person of interest in their investigation.
The man pictured is not a suspect, they say, but may have been in the area around the time Gibbon was injured.
Police say they’ve spoken to about 500 people and received more than 150 tips from the public regarding the man, but have yet to identify or locate him.

“Since Monday morning, our investigators have been hard at work trying to put the pieces of this puzzle together,” Haffner said.
Family members describe Gibbon as a kind, intelligent person who worked nights at an insurance company and had no known enemies.
He lived in his childhood home on Guelph Street, not far from Margaret, and may have been trying to seek help for his injuries when he collapsed on the lawn.
People in the area Friday said they were concerned that the case remained unsolved, but didn’t see it as a reason to avoid going about their lives.
“There’s nothing any one of us really can do about it,” said Katharina McLean, who was voting at an advanced poll at the Breithaupt Centre, near where Gibbon was found.
Police say they plan to continue deploying more officers to the Margaret Avenue area for the near future, and will also have an enhanced presence at public gatherings like Oktoberfest.
