They say the cheese stands alone, but a cheese heist at an Oxford County business was apparently no solo job.
Two London residents are facing charges in connection with the late-February theft of $6,200 worth of items from the Village Cheese Mill south of Ingersoll, as well as an earlier break-in at the same place.
The 49-year-old man and 40-year-old woman are charged with breaking and entering and possession of property obtained by crime. The woman is also charged with breaching a probation order.
In February, their alleged haul included 18 kilograms of cheese curds, 18 other varieties of cheese, fudge, meat sticks, maple syrup, stamps, DVDs, books and other items.
None of those items have been recovered, Oxford County OPP said Thursday, although even if they were they could not be put back on the store’s shelves because of the possibility they had been tampered with.
