Andrew McWhinnie from Sir John A. MacDonald was a key performer on the Highlanders' senior football team which won this year's WCSSAA title. McWhinney played on offence, defence and even spent some time on SJAM special teams.

So it was no surprise when the fifth-year linebacker was named this year's winner of the Doug Shuh Award as the top player in Waterloo County football.

McWhinney played a starring role in the Highlanders' championship season. In the WCSSAA title game, he returned an interception for a touchdown.

McWhinney was voted M.V.P. by the coaches in the league. He has not decided where he will play next season. McWhinney has offers from several schools in the OUA, including Wilfrid Laurier.
