Local hockey fans will have plenty to watch when the International Ice Hockey Federation’s World Junior Championship gets underway on Boxing Day.

Hockey Canada has released its roster for this year’s team, which includes a Guelph Storm forward, a former Kitchener Ranger and a Baden-born player.

Jett Luchanko from the Storm, Carson Rehkopf who is now a Brampton Steelhead but used to play for the Kitchener Rangers, and Barrie Colt’s defenceman Beau Akey of Baden have all been named to the team.

Rehkopf also played for the Canadian team last year.

On the staffing side, Scott Walker from Cambridge will be serving as the team’s player development consultant.

The Guelph Storm's Cameron Allen was also invited to selection camp, but didn't make the final cut.

The World Juniors gets underway in Ottawa on Boxing Day with Canada set to take on Finland at 7:30 p.m.
