One of the newest players in Canada’s aviation marketplace is now advertising tickets for sale.

NextJet Canada announced in January that it planned to offer flights between the Region of Waterloo International Airport and airports in Montreal and Gatineau, Que.

As of Thursday, the air charter service’s website is now accepting flight bookings, with Peterborough as a fourth location.

NextJet owner Tan Ahmed says his company will offer one daily flight on weekdays, starting in Waterloo Region before stopping in Peterborough, Gatineau and finally Montreal.

“These markets, especially Kitchener and Peterborough – they are not even underserved, they’re unserved,” Ahmed said in an interview.

The company says it plans to start its flight operations on May 2.

It will be using a nine-seater plane, but Tan says it hopes to eventually switch to an aircraft with 19 seats.

Because it operates as a private charter service rather than a traditional airline, NextJet has made arrangements to fly out of a location at Waterloo Region’s airport other than its main terminal.

Airport officials say that plan means the airport – and its owner, the Region of Waterloo – will receive about $60 per day in revenue.
