If you've always wanted to own your own piece of Waterloo history, now is your chance.
Beginning Friday, the region is offering logs from the historic corduroy road that was discovered in Uptown Waterloo during LRT construction in March.
One-hundred of the 2 foot sections of the logs will be available free of charge at the Region of Waterloo's Waste Management Facility on Erb Street.
However, pick-up is being limited to one piece per vehicle, per visit while supplies last.
Since the logs are more than 200 years old, officials are reminding people that their relics will need to be preserved if they want them to last longer than a few years.
Archaeologists say the cedar and elm logs are from the early 1800's from one of the first roads ever used in the region.
