Three separate convenience stores were robbed in Kitchener over the weekend.
It brings the total number of robberies reported in the city to nine for the month of September.
However, suspect descriptions in the weekend holdups do not match either each other or most of the robberies that occurred earlier in the month.
The first robbery occurred a little after 2 a.m. Saturday, at the Stop 2 Shop store at Ottawa Street and River Road.
According to Waterloo Regional Police, a man brandished a metal object and demanded money while a second man stood at the store’s front door.
The two were interrupted during their actions, and left the store without obtaining anything.
Police describe the suspects as white man in their mid-20s, late 20s or early 30s, with average buildgs.
One was wearing a white striped baseball cap, a grey hooded sweater and blue jeans, while the other had a shaved head and goatee, a black baseball cap, and black clothing including a hoodie with the word ‘Baretta’ written across its back.
Two hours later, the Hasty Market location on Kingsway Drive was robbed by two masked men.
The men had a knife and steel pipe with them, police say, and got away with cash.
One man was described as black, six feet tall and about 20 years old with a blue, long-sleeved shirt, while the other was said to be about the same age and 5’8” tall with a thin build.
The third robbery occurred around 9:45 p.m. Sunday.
In this case, police say, a man demanded money and cigarettes from the clerk of the Little Short Stop on Country Hill Drive.
Police searched the area but were unable to find the man, who is described as white, 5’5” tall and likely in his 40s.
He was said to be wearing a black coat, black pants, sunglasses and a brown scarf.
No injuries were reported during any of the robberies.
