A Huron County man and former scout troop leader faces 21 new charges in connection with several alleged historical sexual assaults.

Martin Cretier was charged in September with four counts of indecent assault and four counts of gross indecency under the 1977 version of the Criminal Code.

Those charges relate to Cretier allegedly sexually assaulting two young teenage boys in the late 1970s, when he led a scout troop in the Wingham area.

Cretier, who is now 71, also worked at the Wingham and District Hospital.

Huron County OPP said Wednesday that five more alleged victims of Cretier have come forward since the initial charges were laid.

The five people were between the ages of 10 and 21 at the time of the offences, which allegedly occurred between 1971 and 1995.

New charges laid against Cretier include eight counts of gross indecency, seven counts of indecent assault, three counts of sexual assault, two counts of forcible confinement and one count of sexual exploitation.
