After nearly 15 hours, a derailed train was righted and placed back on the tracks in near the downtown Kitchener train station.
One wheel of the freight train derailed just after 9 p.m. Monday and Breithaupt and Ahrens streets.
Police blocked several streets in the area overnight and into Tuesday morning as crews worked to get the train back on the tracks.
A spokesperson for the Goderich-Exeter Railway Company tells CTV News the derailment was likely caused by an ice buildup.
No hazardous materials were being transported by the train.
No injuries were reported and the train was not damaged, but a gash was visible in the roadway.
