A bail hearing is scheduled for Tuesday in the case of a Kitchener man charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Kingston Police say they were called to a convenience store around 7:30 a.m. Monday.

Arriving at the store, they found a 55-year-old man with multiple stab wounds.

The man, a Kingston resident, was taken to hospital in serious condition. Police say he is expected to recover from his injuries.

Police then made their way to a nearby apartment, where a 50-year-old man from Kitchener was placed under arrest.

His name has not been released.

The apartment remains under police guard while a search warrant is prepared to allow detectives inside.
