Provincial police say one person is dead after the front portion of a semi-truck went up in flames in Plympton-Wyoming, Ont.

Police say the truck was "fully engulfed in flames" shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday, in the westbound lanes of Highway 402 at the Camlachie Road overpass.

They say a man was able to safely remove himself from the truck, but another person couldn't be rescued.

The police, fire marshal and coroner's offices are investigating the circumstances of the fire.

The name of the passenger will not be released until relatives are notified.

The westbound lanes of Highway 402 are closed between Oil Heritage Road and Mandaumin Road until approximately 4:00 p.m.
