WATERLOO -- One male has been injured and police are investigating after reports of a disturbance involving a hand gun near High Street in Waterloo.

The incident happened around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, according to officials.

Police say one male has sustained injuries, and three males were seen fleeing the area.

While regional police believe there was a hand gun involved, they add that no shooting occured.

An increased police presence could be seen in the area late Thursday afternoon into the evening.

"We were just playing some spikeball and tennis in the park, we hear all these sirens and check it out," said one student who lives in the area. "Hazel Street is usually a pretty quiet place, it's jind of a surprise to see all the police presence."

Police say they are also trying to determine how the person was injured as part of their investigation.
