Nipissing University students could be returning to class before the end of the month.

A tentative deal has been reached between the school and the Nipissing University Faculty Association, a school spokesperson said Thursday morning.

With the tentative deal in place, classes are expected to resume Monday.

The new contract must still be ratified by union members and the school’s governors, but that will not affect the school’s ability to open next week.

Classes have been cancelled at Nipissing’s campuses in North Bay, Orillia and Brantford since Nov. 2 due to strike action.

Plans call for the Brantford campus to close for good once all current students have graduated.
