LONDON, Ont. -- A 24-year-old man is facing an attempted murder charge after a boy was found suffering from severe trauma at a London, Ont., centre for children with developmental problems.
Police say the 12-year-old boy remains in critical condition in hospital after officers were called to the Child and Parent Resource Institute on Sunday night.
Police say Gregory Thomas Simard -- a full-time contract employee at the facility who had "regular contact" with the boy -- was arrested Monday morning in London.
Simard is charged with attempted murder, uttering threats, forcible confinement and a charge of assaulting police resulting from an incident police allege occurred while Simard was in custody.
Police now say Simard is facing an additional charge of indecent act, arising from an unrelated weekend incident at a northeast London store.
Investigators say a man walked into the store on Saturday morning, stripped, and then picked up his clothes and walked outside while still naked.
