In Flint, Michigan, a change in the city's drinking water source led to contamination, a serious public health issue, and a federal state of emergency.
Officials monitoring Waterloo Region's water system say they're confident nothing similar will happen here -- but just in case, they're keeping a close eye on what's happening in Michigan.
CTV's Allison Tanner is taking a look at the ins and outs of the local water system, how water gets from the Grand River to your tap, and what substances it contains by the time it arrives.
