A Guelph man was taken to an out-of-town hospital for emergency surgery after an incident at a road construction site.
Guelph Police say the man, an employee of EX L Excavating and Site Services, became pinned underneat a large packer machine that had rolled on top of him.
It happened shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday at the corner of Victoria Road and MacAlister Boulevard in the city’s south end.
Several of the 59-year-old’s co-workers rushed in and were able to lift the machine off the victim.
The man was initially taken to Guelph General Hospital and then to a trauma facility for emergency leg surgery.
The Ministry of Labour is investigating.
