A Guelph man who is cycling 6,000 kilometres across North America to raise money for Guelph General’s ER Department arrived home to a warm welcome Saturday.
Terry Manning is now half-way through his journey.
The 69-year-old cyclist is trying to raise $60,000 and as of Saturday he’s already collected more than $30,000.
He started his 50-day journey in Oregon in mid-June.
Manning’s wife is currently receiving treatment in a long-term care facility in Elmira for a neurological disorder. He says it’s because of all the incredible care they’ve received from hospitals including Guelph that made him realize how important it is to give back.
The Royal on Gordon Street in Guelph is hosting a barbecue in his honour on Sunday.
Then he’ll head to Niagara to resume the last half of his journey.
He expects to complete the 6,000 kilometre trek in New Hampshire on August 5th.
