Firefighters arrived at a home in southeast Kitchener Sunday evening to find flames shooting out a vent.
Crews were called to the Zeller Drive home around 5:30 p.m.
People at neighbouring homes said they had heard an explosion a few minutes earlier.
The firefighters were able to bring the situation under control.
Details on the extent of damage from the fire were not available as of Monday morning.
