There are major safety concerns at one of the country’s busiest border crossings.
Transport Canada says the Ambassador Bridge needs emergency repairs.
An inspection last month determined a section of the railing and curb on the Canadian side of the bridge is unsafe for drivers.
Transport Canada says if a car were to hit the curb, it could potentially go through the railing.
“You would expect that the Ambassador Bridge would have taken proper steps in the first place to make sure that their bridge is safe for people to cross,” says Drew Dilkens, Windsor’s Mayor.
Temporary barriers will be set up along the curb in both directions until they can be properly fixed.
Officials can’t say how long it will take to complete those repairs.
Meanwhile, drivers crossing from Windsor to Detroit should expect some traffic delays.
