A call for a structure fire came in just after 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, on Newport Road just a short drive from two other fires in the area that happened within the last two days.

Fire Chief Goeff Hayman says that there were two vehicles inside the barn and based on what they have seen so far he believes that the fire started inside one of the cars.

Crews were able to knock down the fire in about ten minutes but they did continue to work on hot spots.

Hayman says that there is a possibility that the fires are connected.

“It could be coincidental you know. There could be somebody going around,” he says. “They’re a very short distance. Probably within a mile and a half from each other.”

OPP are still investigating the fire and say that it’s too early to say whether this fire is connected with the other two that were in the area.
