A band of coyotes appears to have made itself a home in Woodstock.
Police in that city say they’ve received several reports about coyote sightings in the south end – mainly around Ferguson Drive, Lindsay Road and the Southside Park area.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and city officials have also been investigating, and it’s believed the coyotes are living in dens near the Ferguson Drive lighthouse.
Anyone who comes across coyotes is urged not to approach the wild animals.
Other tips provided by police include:
- Make noise and make yourself appear as large as possible, as coyotes are intimidated by larger creatures
- Do not run away from or turn your back on a coyote, as it may then chase you. Instead, slowly ack away while making loud noises
- Keep pets within eyesight and on short leashes
