The Michael Ball murder trial resumed Monday with more testimony from the man who claims he helped Ball dispose of Erin Howlett’s body after her death.

Last week, Daniel Warwick described being driven to Ball’s apartment, helping him put Howlett’s body into a duffel bag, and dumping the bag into the Grand River.

Under cross-examination, Warwick agreed with defence lawyers that he had “no intention of telling the truth” to police about his involvement in the night.

Being re-examined by the Crown on Monday, Warwick said he waited to reveal that information until the preliminary inquiry before Ball’s trial, knowing anything he said in court couldn’t be used against him later on.

“I didn’t want them to know my involvement. I didn’t want to get in trouble,” he said.

“I’d get charged with accessory.”

During last week’s testimony, Warwick was asked if Ball had ever asked him to stay quiet about his actions after Howlett’s death. He said that he didn’t remember anything of the sort.

Asked the same question Monday, he said that Ball once called him an “idiot” for talking to a friend about the events.

“He just told me if I didn’t fix what I said, he was going to take all my friends down with him,” Warwick said.

Warwick told the court that he had never cut a deal with police in exchange for testifying against Ball.
