For the first time ever, two Kitchener minor hockey products will suit up for Canada at the World Junior Championships. 19-year-old Tanner Pearson and 18-year-old Mark Scheifele will both represent Canada in Calgary over the next three weeks.

The two Barrie Colts' forwards have enjoyed a meteoric rise to this level. Two years ago, both were playing Junior 'B' hockey: Scheifele with the Kitchener Dutchmen and Pearson with the Waterloo Siskins.

In June, Scheifele was a first-round draft pick of the NHL's winnipeg jets. This season, Pearson leads the OHL scoring race by 16 points.

They will suit up for Canada's 22-man roster, when the annual WJC tournament runs from Boxing Day until January 5th in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta.

Canada's opening game December 26th against Finland faces off at 3:30 pm on TSN.
