The Brantford Food Bank’s lone van was stolen Monday afternoon.

The van was stolen over the lunch hour from the Food Bank’s warehouse on Clarence Street, just outside the city’s downtown.

“It’s so disheartening that this has happened,” Food Bank executive director Heather Vanner said in a media release.

“We rely on this vehicle to help us collect food donations each any every day.”

The van is described as a white 2003 Chevy Astro cargo van, with license plate 5354LM.

Large decals on the van show the logos of the Brantford Police Service, Brantford Jaycees, AmberLea Place and Brantford Food Bank.

“We need the community’s help in locating our vehicle,” said Vanner.

The Food Bank says pickups of donated food may be delayed due to the theft.

A suspect wearing a red hoodie, brown jacket and dark baggy pants is sought in connection with the theft.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
