The artistic director of the Stratford Festival is one of 69 new appointments to the Order of Canada.
Antoni Cimolino was announced Wednesday as a recipient of the award.
Cimolino has been the festival’s artistic director, after serving in a number of other roles with the organization.
He first joined the Stratford Festival as an actor, and moved into the director’s chair in the 1990s.
Other notable appointees to the Order of Canada include author Joseph Boyden, former Prince Edward Island premier Catherine Callbeck, and polar explorer Richard Weber.
All of them will be honoured at a ceremony in Ottawa at a later date.
Nominations for the award are based on an individual’s achievements, dedication to their community and service to the nation.
