Hundreds of people lined up Thursday to get a free hepatitis A vaccine in Fergus – so many, in fact, that the swiftly organized clinic ran out of vaccinations.
A new shipment arrived late Friday morning, albeit after that day's clinic had been scheduled to start.
According to Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health, anyone who ate at Marj’s Village Kitchen in Alma between Jan. 2 and Jan. 20 is at risk of infection from hepatitis A due to an employee unknowingly carrying the infection.
Anyone who purchased items from the bakery, but did not eat at the restaurant, is not believed to be at risk.
Vaccines are being offered for free at the public health office on Wellington Road 18.
Clinics are being held Friday until 4:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Appointments are also being booked through Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health.
Marj’s passed a health inspection on Thursday, and the infected employee is at home recovering.
Anyone with questions is asked to contact the health unit at 519-823-4920.
