A Stratford manufacturer is getting a $1.3-million boost from the Ontario government, helping to create 44 new jobs.

Schaeffler Canada designs and manufactures rolling bearings and systems for the automotive industry.

The provincial funding will help Schaeffler cover the expense of adding two assembly lines and to purchase new equipment for the Stratford plant.

The company’s $13.1-million expansion project is scheduled for completion by December 2018.

The province says in a news release that the funds will be allocated from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund.
