A memorial at the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate in Guelph has been vandalized.

The message “condoms not condemn” and “pro-choice ” was spray-painted on the church’s stone walkway.

Police say it happened sometime between Sunday night’s service and Monday morning’s mass.

The memorial, called the Garden of Grace, was unveiled earlier this week.

It was funded by an anti-abortion group in Guelph who say it’s a space where women who have had abortions or miscarriages can go to grieve.

But protestors have a different name for the memorial – Garden of Shame.

At a rally on Friday they said the memorial shames women who choose to have an abortion.
