Two men were sent to hospital Saturday night after a fight inside a Guelph apartment ended in a stabbing.

Police were called to the building on Silvercreek Parkway North around 10:30 p.m.

They say a 28-year-old man suffered stab wounds to his head and hand. He was treated and released from hospital.

The suspect, a 24-year-old Guelph man, was also hurt, but police have not released the nature of his injuries.

Officials confirm the two men live together. Neighbours, meanwhile, say the pair are brothers.

Police say shortly after the stabbing, one of the men attempted to flee the scene.

“He was located a short distance away at a business located on Silvercreek Parkway North,” says Sgt. Arif Hasham with the Guelph Police Service.

Some neighbours tell CTV News the incident has them on edge.

“[A] fight you can get, but actual possible stabbing, that’s kind of scary this close to home,” says Monica Fenske, whose front door was covered in a smear of blood.

Police arrested and charged the 24-year-old suspect with assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.

He is currently being held for bail.

Both the victim and the suspect`s names have not been released.
