It’s been nearly three weeks since a Toronto man disappeared while visiting family in Saugeen Shores.
Peter James Armstrong, who also goes by the name Jim Armstrong, first arrived in the area March 5 to visit a relative in Southampton.
The last confirmed sighting of Armstrong came on the night of March 9.
Saugeen Shores Police say he is not carrying medication prescribed for him, and may be experiencing seizures due to not taking the medication.
When several days went by with no sign of the 53-year-old, police launched a massive search. A helicopter, a drone, a canine unit, dive teams and a sonar-equipped boat were all used in the effort to find Armstrong.
Although many of those specialized resources have since left the area, police say they continue to search the Lake Huron shoreline twice a day for any sign of Armstrong.
At one point, investigators were told that Armstrong may have been spotted at a store in Port Elgin, buying a bus ticket to Walkerton.
Investigators say they have spoken with the person who bought that ticket, who was found not to be Armstrong.
Armstrong is described as white, 5’9” tall and 160 pounds, with short, curly red hair. Police say he may have been wearing green or multi-coloured pyjama pants or track pants at the time of his disappearance.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police at 519-832-9200.
