Man charged in Uptown Waterloo robbery

Police have made an arrest after a robbery at a store in Uptown Waterloo.

Officers with the Waterloo Regional Police Service responded to reports of a robbery on King Street South on Monday around 5:10 p.m.

Investigators said a male walked into the store, picked up some merchandise and tried to leave without paying. When an employee tried to stop him, the suspect threatened to hurt staff members.

Officers found the suspect nearby and arrested him.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with robbery, disguise with intent, fail to comply with order and attempt theft under $5,000.
