Man arrested after Cambridge armed robbery: police

A man has been arrested after an armed robbery in Cambridge Tuesday afternoon.

At around 1:20 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police were called to a business around the area of Hespeler Road and Avenue Road.

Police said they determined a man was asked by an employee to leave the store and he refused. The man armed himself with a box cutter and didn’t let the employee leave. The man ran away after police were called. Officers found the suspect nearby and arrested him.

No one was hurt.

A 55-year-old man was charged with robbery with a weapon, weapons dangerous, forcible confinement, failing to comply with release order and two counts of failing to comply with probation order.
