LONDON, Ont. -- A 24-year-old man has been arrested in London, Ont., after a 12-year-old boy was found suffering from severe trauma at a centre for children with developmental problems.
Police say Gregory Thomas Simard was arrested Monday morning in London (at Dundas Street and Clarke Road) but there's no immediate word on any charges.
Officers were called to the Child and Parent Resource Institute (near Oxford Street and Sanatorium Road) on Sunday night after a report of an aggravated assault.
The facility cares for children with mental health and developmental challenges.
The boy was taken to hospital where he was listed in critical condition as of Monday afternoon.
Police say Simard is a full-time contract employee at the facility where the 12-year-old boy lived and that he had "regular contact" with the boy.
Investigators are looking into whether there are any other victims at the facility but police say there's no evidence to suggest anyone else was harmed.
