A 21-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into 19 apartment buildings in Waterloo’s university district – in many cases, while the apartments’ residents were in their beds, asleep.
Waterloo Regional Police say the Brampton resident is charged with 19 counts of breaking and entering, as well as possession and use of a stolen credit card and obstruction of police.
He was arrested on April 7. Most of the break-ins he’s accused of occurred March 26, at buildings on Regina and Phillip streets.
According to police, the man entered apartments where doors had been left unlocked. If approached, he allegedly acted drunk or confused.
Police have released a photo of the man because investigators believe he may have been responsible for more break-ins that they are not aware of.
