Police are searching for a suspect after almost $50,000 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets were stolen from a north-end business on Saturday.

Officers were called to the store on Woodlawn Road West on Monday morning. They said a suspect had parked a short distance from the business just after 10 p.m. on Saturday and approached the closed business more than three hours later after the store was closed. The suspect reportedly pried the front doors open and walked inside.

A camera caught the suspect leaving the store a short time later. They were carrying two reusable shopping bags filled with scratch tickets.

The business owner said the tickets had not been activated and will be flagged by the lottery corporation so any potential winnings cannot be redeemed.

The suspect is described as possibly male with a medium build. At the time, they wore a black jacket, black pants, a white hoodie, a white medical mask and black shoes or boots.
