GoFundMe names K-W area among the most generous communities in Canada for 2024
The Kitchener-Waterloo area has been named one of the most generous communities in Canada fir 2024, that’s according to GoFundMe’s annual report.
The list highlights 20 communities that “have gone above and beyond in support of Canadians” and is measured by the highest number of donors per capita on the GoFundMe platform.
Kitchener was named the 14th most generous community with over 12,700 donors recorded. Meanwhile, Waterloo was named 18th most generous, with more than 5,800 donors recorded.
This year, GoFundMe recorded $280 million raised in Canada for people, causes, and organizations around the world. This compares to almost $259 million raised over the same period in 2023, reflecting an eight per cent increase.
For the second year in a row, Victoria is listed as the most generous community where over 19,500 donors contributed in 2024.
