Guelph Police are looking for a driver who hit a police cruiser on Wednesday.

An officer was patrolling the Woolwich Street area around noon, when the cruiser’s automated licence plate reader flagged a vehicle associated with a suspended driver.

Police said the officer tried to pull over the black GMC Sierra pick-up truck as it entered the East Parkade on Mandonell East.

According to police, a man in the passenger seat got out of the truck and ran away. Police said the driver then intentionally reversed into the police cruiser and drove off.

The cruiser and the parkade’s entrance arms were damaged.

The officer did not chase after the driver due to public safety concerns.

Police described the driver as a light-skinned Black man wearing a brown coat and blue medical mask.

Anyone with information is asked to call Constable Karson Massey at 519-824-1212, ext. 7594 or email kmassey@guelphpolice.ca.
