It was a night for great rivalries in WCSSAA Senior Boys High School football. Great rivalries do not always mean terrific games, however, and none of Thursday's contests was even close.
The all-Cambridge match-up between unbeaten Jacob Hespeler and St. Benedict saw the Hawks roll past the Saints 37-0. Eric Hewitson scored two touchdowns for Jacob Hespeler (3-0).
Longtime WCSSAA powerhouses SJAM and Resurrection met in Kitchener, but the Highlanders cruised to a 51-14 rout. C.J. Smith scored 21 points for the Waterloo school.
Kitchener St. Mary's improved to 2-0 with a 26-0 shutout victory over Waterloo St. David. The Eagles built a 17-0 lead in the second quarter and held off the Celtics from there.
Glenview Park was the only home team to record a home field victory Thursday. The Panthers blanked Preston 22-0 in the all-Cambridge tilt.
