So what if it’s spring?
A severe winter storm is expected to roll through southwestern Ontario on Thursday, though a few hours later than predicted.
Waterloo Region and the London area are under a freezing rain warning, as are Wellington, Huron, Perth, Oxford, Grey, Bruce and Brant counties.
Environment Canada says a slow-moving low front will combine with arctic air to produce a messy mix of ice pellets, freezing rain and some snow or rain in those regions.
Up to four centimetres of snow and ice are expected to fall before the storm lightens Thursday afternoon.
Another round of precipitation will arrive Thursday evening, bringing heavy amounts of freezing rain and ice pellets at times.
As temperatures rise above the freezing mark overnight, the precipitation will change to rain.
Areas to the southwest near Windsor, Sarnia and Chatham-Kent are under rainfall warnings but will escape the brunt of the ice and freezing rain.
