Police chased suspects in a car onto a golf course where the thieves then crashed into a creek, after they robbed a Guelph Esso overnight.
Two men have been arrested, a 19-year-old Kitchener man and a 21-year-old from Guelph, but police say they are still looking for a third suspect.
“They knew everything they were doing," said Amir Riaz, owner of the Esso.
According to Riaz, police called him around 2:30 a.m. and told him two masked men had robbed his gas station on Woodlawn Road.
“They [the suspects] asked my attendant to face towards the wall,” said Raiz.
“It took about 15 minutes for them to grab alot of smokes, cash, even two gas cans as well and they filled up one as well during that process,” said Raiz.
One of his regular customers was outside the store and called police.
When officers arrived, the suspects took off in a car with a third suspect.
Police say the chase took them to the Ariss Valley Golf Course.
“They came in, came across here. We can see the tire tracks right here," said Dave Scott of Ariss Golf and Country Club.
“We had a car in the creek when we came in at quarter to seven,” said Scott.
“They went over number 9 green. Fortunately the conditions are all dry, if it was soft we would have had a lot of damage on the course,” said Scott.
The two men arrested face numerous charges including robbery, disguise with intent, flight from police and mischief.
The Kitchener man is facing an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance.
