Waterloo Regional council approved recommended changes to the light rail transit route at a meeting on Wednesday night.

The modifications in Uptown Waterloo could see the LRT travel north along the existing Waterloo spur line, through the public square, from King to Caroline Streets.

An additional station area could be built at King and Allen Streets and a northbound station at Willis Way could be moved to the spur line at the public square.

Some residents at the meeting continued to voice their concerns about the plans, but the region says the decision was made after sufficient public input.
