Two people were killed and three others injured Tuesday night in a three-vehicle collision near Breslau.
The crash occurred around 9 p.m., at the intersection of Kossuth and Shantz Station roads.
According to Waterloo Regional Police, the chain of the events began when a car was passed by another vehicle near a curve in the road.
The car was unable to handle the curve, and crossed into the path of an oncoming car. The two collided head-on and began to spin in the roadway, crashing into a third vehicle.
Two people in the first car – the 17-year-old male driver and an 18-year-old male passenger – were pronounced dead at the scene.
An 18-year-old passenger was airlifted to a Hamilton hospital.
The 27-year-old driver of the other vehicle involved in the head-on crash was airlifted to a Toronto hospital.
The driver of the third vehicle was taken to a hospital in Guelph with non-life-threatening injuries.
Kossuth Road remained closed into Wednesday’s commute, and reopened later in the morning.
Police say they want to hear from any witnesses to the collision, particularly the driver of the blue Audi vehicle that passed the car before it hit the curve.
