Brantford Police are investigating after copper wire was stolen from 15 streetlight posts in the city’s east end.
Sometime last week, the posts were damaged in such a way that the wire used to operate the lights was exposed.
The wire, police say, was then pulled out of the ground, severed and stolen.
In total, the thieves made off with an estimated 400 metres of copper wire.
Replacing the wire will cost the city $15,000.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
