Hundreds of motorcycles roared across southwestern Ontario on Sunday for a memorial charity ride in Tim Bosma's honour.
The Ancaster man disappeared May 6th after going for a test drive with two men. His remains were later found on a North Dumfries farm owned by Dellen Millard. Millard and another man, Mark Smich, have been charged with Bosma’s murder.
“When we learned about what happened with Tim… basically it broke our hearts,” said Jeff Czech.
Czech and Tony Salih didn’t know Bosma, but they wanted to help his grieving family. So the two motorcyclists organized a ride in Bosma’s memory.
"The fact that it could have happened to anyone of us, it just really hit home for us,” said Czech back in May. “We’re just like him, like everybody else that wants to provide for their families, their wives and their children."
“The point of [the ride] is to show the Bosma family that the community is mourning,” said Bill Marshall who was amoung the participants Sunday. “We are all suffering.”
The Tim Bosma Memorial Ride began in Kitchener and detoured to Port Dover where hundreds of riders joined in the procession. Close to a thousand riders made their way to Bosma’s hometown of Ancaster to meet with his emotional parents.
“I saw all those motorcycles come around, and I started crying,” said Bosma’s father Hank. “Tim just loved the motorbikes and he would’ve… he’s jumping right now seeing all this.”
The event raised about $20,000 for Bosma’s widow Sharlene and their young daughter.
