On Easter weekend, police set up along four roads known to be among Norfolk County’s worst for collisions: Norfolk Street North, St. John’s Road East, Cockshutt Road and Brantford Road.

For 10 hours on Friday and 10 more on Saturday, officers watched for distracted, speeding and otherwise rule-breaking motorists.

And they found plenty.

According to the OPP, a total of 141 offences were observed by officers patrolling those roads.

Ninety-five tickets were issued for speeding – an average of about one ticket for every 13 minutes of the patrol.

Five drivers were charged for driving without insurance or for not producing a valid licence, while four were found to be driving while unlicensed or committing seatbelt violations.

Only two drivers were stopped for distracted driving during the 20 hours the patrol ran.
