Ontario’s 21 universities are vying for students to fill their classrooms next fall.
An estimated 120,000 people will attend a 3-day event at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. It’s free for students and their parents.
Students seek out universities that have the programs they’re looking for. This event can help them decide where they will apply.
Joining university staff is student ambassadors – enthusiastic promoters of their chosen school.
“If you are particularly interested in experiencing the real world and knowing what working in the real world is like I would definitely highly recommend to you to come to Waterloo because they are the first university in the world to create a co-op program.” University of Waterloo Student Ambassador Emily Liu says.
This is a significant step for students, a choice that is often life altering.
“Some of them are starting to think ahead in a way they’ve never needed to in the past and our job here is to get the right information to the right people at the right time.” George Granger of Ontario University Application Centre, says.
At the end of all of this students are hoping to have answers.
Grade 12 student Joe Okon is hopeful the 3-day event will help him with his decision. “I expect to come out of there with the information I need to make that decision.”
The Ontario Universities’ Fair is being held at the South Building at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. It runs until Sunday at 5 p.m.
